ABSTRACT

COVID 19 disease is caused by a new variant coronavirus called SARS -CoV-2. WHO identified this virus in December 2013. Covid 19 affects different people in different ways. The disease commonly manifests with symptoms like fever, dry cough, tiredness, sore throat, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, headache, anosmia,  dfficulty  in breathing or shortness of breath. Even after recovery and being tested negative for the disease, a considerable traction of people suffers from various post covid symptoms ranging from headache, cough, anosmia, sleeplessness etc.The serious post covid complications seems to be associated with cardiopulmonary system. Other less serious systemic post covid-19 symptoms which are often noted includes fatigue, headache, body pain, dyspnoea etc. The severity of headache in covid-19 varies from moderate to severe. The pain may be throbbing or pulsating in nature. Postcovid headache resembles migraine and tension type headache. It can be correlated to Vataja shirashoola  according to ayurvedic classics. As the symptoms reveal Vata Pitta predominance, its management should include drugs which are having madhura, seetha, snigdha, brimhana, and rasayana properties. As Balamoola, Ashwagandha and Ksheera are having these properties, study is planned to assess the effect of Pratimarsha nasya with Ksheerabala (7) avarti, Shiroabhyangam with Balatailam along with Ashwagandha choorna in 100ml milk as internal medicine in managing post covid headache. This protocol is very convenient for the patient to practice at home. Pre and post interventional study will be conducted in 20 patients selected as per the inclusion criteria from OPD of Shalakyathanthra and Ayuraksha OP (Kayachikitsa Govt Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram). The effect of treatment will be assessed on the basis of improvement of subjective symptoms, Ksheerabala (7) avarti is selected for Pratimarsha nasya and Balataila for shiroabhyanga. For Pratimarsha nasya 1ml  of Ksheerabala (7) avarti is instilled each nostril twice daily ,shiroabhyangam is exercised before bath and 5gm of Ashwagandha Churna is given with100ml milk at bed time. This whole ayurvedic protocol should be followed for 15days. The patient will be assessed on 0th,.8th  16th  day of treatment and result will be statistically analyzed  after the study.

ABSTRACT

Mukha is considered as one of the navadwaras.Danta is the part of mukha. There are various diseases affecting the Mukha and their Angas. Classical texts of Ayurveda gives more importance to oral hygiene measures. Avoidance of these results in various pathological conditions of oral cavity. For the diseases affecting the oral cavity, as preventive therapy, our acharyas have mentioned treatment like kabala, gandusha, pratisarana, mukhaprakshalana. Dantaharsha is one of the dantaroga and it is the most common disorder of the mouth. If teeth do not tolerate heat or cold or any other kind of touch,it is known as dantaharsha caused by vata. In Ayurveda, it is mentioned as a separate disease, whereas in modern,It can be compared with dental hypersensitivity characterized by short, sharp pain arising from exposed dentin in response to stimuli typically thermal, evaporative tactile, osmotic or chemical and it is a symptom found in many diseases.By considering the involvement of vata , Tila taila gandusha is given as taila covers over the danta and mitigates vata dosha. Pratisarana with dasanasamskara choorna is also given in this disease as it is a widely used classical formulation for treating all types of oral cavity disorders. It has sothahara, krmigna, shodana, raktasthambana and rasayana property. Objective of the study is, to study the effect of Dasanasamskara choorna3 prathisarana and Tila taila gandusha in dantaharsha. Study design is pre and post interventional study without control group. Subjects within the age group of 20- 70 years with danthaharsha will be selected for the study from the outpatient and inpatient department of Shalakyathanthra ,Government Ayurveda College Hospital , Thiruvananthapuram as per inclusion criteria. The reference of Dasanasamskara choorna is taken from Bhaisajya ratnavali mukharogadhikara for this study. Dasanasamskara choorna will be applied as Prathisarana over the teeth twice daily and Gandusha with Tila taila for a period of 30 days. The research participant will be assessed on 0th day and on 31st day for the effect of the therapy.

ABSTRACT

About 20 % of world populations suffer from some sort of allergic ocular disease. Although allergens differ between patients, the most common cause is hay fever. The underlying immune mechanism responsible for it has not yet been fully understood, but it is known that IgE related mast cells and eosinophil mediated inflammation leads to the release of mast cells mediators and toxic eosinophilic granules. Patients suffering from allergic conjunctivitis might experience symptoms such as itching, redness, foreign body sensation, ropy discharge, burning sensation and photophobia. Current line of treatment advocates the use of topical antihistamines, mast cell stabilizers and NSAID's. Features of allergic conjunctivitis are more resembling with the features of abhishyandha and rakthaja prathishyaya. Ayurvedic remedies can be used to treat condition by considering the doshas on the basis of signs and symptoms. Number of drugs for aschyothana are mentioned in ayurvedic classics in various contest of nethraroga. Considering these symptoms arka is made by drugs having the properties like kaphaharatva, raktagna, rooksha, kandughna, sophagna, kledahara and chakshushya for aschyothana. Since allergic conjunctivitis is an immune related disease, immune modulation is also added in treatment module. As per previous research studies immune modulation is best done by rasayanas. Considering this ghandhaka rasayanam is choose as drug for internal administration which is having properties like rooksha, kandughna, sophagna and chakshushya. Objective of the study is to find the effect of Ghandhakarasayanam and punarnava Bhringharaja arka aschyothana in allergic conjunctivitis.
